What a fun week we have had in Room 14 this week. Things have been little bit different to normal. Miss Huke has asked us to do some tests, so that she can see how well we are doing. She needs to do this so that she can write our reports which will be coming home at the end of term. However, as well as doing some tests we have also done some really fun activities and technology!
When Ms Crowther was with us we had a whole day of technology. We started off by thinking about what we needed to make - a deep sea explorer. We had to become designers and inventors and make a plan of all the things that we might need on a deep sea explorer. There were some really useful ideas like propellors, periscopes, anti-pressure machines, lights, heaters and of course, toilets!
Here are some pictures of us creating. Thanks to Deb and Helen for all their help!
Once we had finished creating our explorers we had a couple of chances to share these with the rest of the class, and explain how they worked. Miss Huke really enjoyed this part as she liked listening to our explanations of how our machines worked, and seeing all the little hidden details inside that we had put lots of effort into. She said that Ms Crowther had been really proud of our work too! (But some of us might have gone overboard with the glitter!)
This week we also had a sausage sizzle and mufti day which we always enjoy!
In Maths this week each group has been working on splitting numbers to make addition problems a little bit easier. We have been using tens frames to help us do that. Perhaps we could try and explain to Mum or Dad how this works?
We have done lots of practice for our assembly this week. This is on Tuesday of Week 7, June 5th at 2pm. We can't wait to dress up in costumes and have our faces painted!
The lunch bell is about to ring - time to eat, more next week!
What fun they look to have had with the deep sea explorers!
ReplyDeleteHI everyone,
ReplyDeleteIt was cool to see your deep sea explorers. They looked neat.
Gussie has been sick so she has read the blog at home. She was very sorry to miss the trip to Kelly Tarlton's (so was I!) but I hope you all had a great time. Gussie is a bit better so hopefully by the time you read this she will be back at school.
I am looking forward to coming to your assembly next week.
Keep up the good work!
Deb (Gussie's mum) and Gussie.
