Week 6

Welcome to another week in Room 14. It has been a busy week full of action and we would like to share a little bit of that with you in our blog.

Starting with a cast update! Ben and Liam are both very pleased as they have had their casts taken off their wrists!

On Tuesday it was a very exciting day as we were off on a trip to Kelly Tarlton's. We have been studying the Deep Ocean for quite a while now so it was really great to have a chance to see some real life creatures. We had a session in the classroom. Florence, the Kelly Tarlton's educator, told us all about some fabulous creatures that live at the very bottom of the ocean.

Then we got a chance to explore the rest of Kelly Tarlton's and look at all the other creatures. Not many of them come from the Midnight Zone, just the Giant Squid, but they were still really interesting to see. We saw sharks, penguins, sting rays, sea dragons and much more. We were lucky because whilst we were there lots of the creatures were being fed. The Stingrays looked like they were really enjoying their lunch. When the Octopus was being fed he started being naughty and trying to pull the stick with the food off the man who was feeding him. Eventually he pulled so hard that the man had to let go of the stick and the Octopus got to keep it in his tank. The man said that happened quite often and that he would have to go back and get his stick when the Octopus was in a better mood!

Check out these pictures from our trip!

To finish off our Deep Ocean topic we had a sharing time with all the other classes. We got to show our Deep Sea Explorers and our projects that we had worked so hard on. We were really impressed with the work we saw in the other classes. Matthew and Erin took some pictures of things that they saw:

Then we finished off with a group Deep Sea A-Z challenge! Well done to the winning team who scored 20.5 out of 26. Fabulous!

This week we have been doing lots of practicing for our assembly on Tuesday. Some of us brought our costumes in today so that we have them ready to go on Tuesday. Everyone else will need to remember to bring them then. Readers and narrators are wearing all black and we are trying to find costumes for the actors (most of them are sorted out!) Thanks to Helen who is going to come in and paint our faces at lunchtime so we will be all ready for assembly at 2pm.

Next week we will have Ms Crowther and Ms Huke together for a day as Ms Huke gets ready to leave school and have her baby! Ms Crowther has really enjoyed all her days in Room 14 and is looking forward to taking over the class as Ms Huke has told her such nice things about all of the children!

Time for lunch, more next week!
