Week 7

What a week we have had in Room 14!

After weeks of practice it was finally time for us to perform the Gruffalo in assembly. We had a quick run through in the morning to make sure we knew what we were doing, where we had to stand and what we had to say. Then after morning tea we had a dress rehearsal, this is when you have a practice in your costumes. After that Helen, Tommy's mum, came to paint our faces so we were all ready. She did such a great job and we are really grateful, thanks Helen!

Then it was time for the real thing! We went to the hall and sat in two lines facing the audience, we had to sit really beautifully while we were waiting for all the other classes to come in, which took a long time. We saw a lot of our parents watching from the side, which made us a bit excited but a bit nervous. Once all the children were sitting down we got started. Matthew and Rohan opened the assembly and before we knew it it was time to perform. Once we got going we forgot about being nervous, we knew that we had practiced enough. It felt so good to be finished, we all had big smiles on our faces when the audience was clapping us! Miss Huke was so proud of us, she said we did a fabulous job and even put lots of teddies in the jar for all our hard work. We wished we could do plays in assembly every week!

Here are some photos from our performance and of our beautiful painted faces.

The Gruffalo is not the only thing that has been happening in our classroom this week. Today we have been learning some more about Algebra. We learnt that you can make patterns with numbers and letters as well as shapes. All you have to do is work out the rule. We had a go at working some out and we also had a try at making up some rules ourselves. This was a lot of fun.

Today it has been 'Fabulous Friday' in Room 14. That is because it is Miss Huke's last Friday with us. Next week she will be here until Thursday and then Ms Crowther takes over the next day. Miss Huke was so pleased because for her last Friday everybody had brought in their homework diaries and done their homework! Hooray!

Miss Huke says that she will miss us lots and lots, but she knows we will keep trying our very hardest with Ms Crowther. We will be able to carry on using our blog to let Miss Huke know what we are up to, and she will be able to tell us when she has her baby - not long to go now!

Bye for now!
